Palm Beach: Chinese nationals taken into custody after boat washes ashore

Police Vehicle Palm Beach

A 25-foot boat carrying at least ten Chinese immigrants washed ashore on Palm Beach around 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police were notified when a citizen called to say the boat was discovered in the 3400 block of South Ocean Boulevard, just south of the Lake Worth pier.

Not long after receiving the call, officers observed seven individuals, four men and three women, heading south on A1A. Later in the day three additional women were found walking on the beach.

In total 10 people were turned over to the United States Border Patrol. They spoke no English, but all of the individuals located appeared to be in good health and did not show signs of distress, according to officials.

Police are concerned that there could have been others aboard the boat and ask anyone with information pertaining to the event to contact them at 561-838-5454.
