American Superbike star Nicky Hayden has been hit by a car while training on his bicycle. Sources say the incident occurred along the Rimini coast.
Hayden, who was in Italy following a race at neighboring Imola, was carried to a local medical facility for treatment. Reports have suggested he suffered extreme head and chest injury– and remains in serious condition.
Images from the scene of the crash show a black Peugeot 206 convertible with a badly harmed windshield. Hayden’s bike was plainly shaken off the road into a lawn brink, with the frame obviously snapped.
The 35-year-old won the MotoGP title in 200. Hayden has concentrated on World Superbikes for the previous 2 years and is 13th in this season’s standings. He finished fifth in 2015– taking his group’s only triumph of the project in Malaysia.
