Boca Raton boaters have only had one choice when it came to boat ramps – Silver Palm Park. The downtown location has been convenient for some, but not for many others. The city of Boca Raton is asking for input from citizens about another boat ramp location, potentially at James A. Rutherford park on Lake Wyman.
City Manager Leif Ahnell says the public – especially boaters with city permits – are invited to be heard at the downtown library on February 26 at 6 p.m. Open discussions regarding the possible revamping of both Rutherford park and Lake Wyman park.
Some of the topics up for discussion are changing directions of the boat launches, motorized boat launch ramps, floating docks, areas for ramps and trailers, day docks and a water taxi drop-off.
Redredging overgrown canoe and kayak trails and other potential upgrades such as a new boardwalk will also be considered.
