Boynton Beach: Car hits baby in stroller

A spokesperson for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an 18-month-old baby in a stroller was struck by a vehicle on Monday morning. The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. as the baby’s grandmother attempted to push the stroller in the crosswalk at the intersection of Le Chalet Boulevard and South Military Trail, west of Boynton Beach.

The carriage was launched upon impact, the child was ejected from his stroller and sustained injuries to his head when he landed. Officials say he was transported for medical treatment and will be held for observation at least overnight. He is expected to survive and make a full recovery.

Police did not immediately release any additional details regarding the case such as the child’s name or the driver’s information. The investigation is ongoing; it is not clear who was at fault in the accident.
