Ocean Drive is set to see a swanky new restaurant called iLov 305, thanks to the entertainer known as Pitbull. The hot new spot will be located in the former Bon Air Hotel in Miami Beach.
Proposed to open in the summer of 2018, the sprawling new eatery will include a daiquiri bar and cocktail lounge on the ground floor of the 1060 Ocean Drive address, according to real estate website The Real Deal.
Ilove 305 would serve to liven up the corner of 10th Street and Ocean and enhance the former hotel building, which has recently been slated for restoration according to the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board.
The property’s facade and lobby will be restored to the original 1934 Mediterranean Revival design. The building’s ground floor was purchased in 2012 for $18.3 million and is under the ownership of Nakash Strand LLC. Much of the structure has been converted to a condo-hotel.
Miami native Pitbull, whose birth name is Armando Christian Perez, signed a lease with Nakash Strand LLC, to operate the restaurant, according to The Real Deal.
The Cuban-American rapper, is not exactly new to the restaurant business. In 2012, he became an owner of the Key West-founded fast-food chain Miami Grill, which was formerly known as Miami Subs Grill.
The artist also known as Mr. Worldwide, has been busy with humanitarian efforts. CNN reports that he has sent out his private plane to retrieve cancer patients from hurricane- ravaged Puerto Rico. Thanks to his help the patients have been able to receive treatment in the mainland U.S.
But don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that Pitbull will be slowing down on his performance schedule. He’s currently on tour with another Miamian, singer Enrique Iglesias.
Pitbull and Iglesias are set to perform at the American Airlines Arena in Miami on November 11. Tickets fo the 7:30 p.m. show can be found at ticketmaster.com.
