Governor Rick Scott selects two new South Florida judges

Rick Scott appoints Palm Beach County judges

The Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Palm Beach County has two new members. Gerard Joseph Curley Jr. and James Edwad Nutt were appointed by Governor Rick Scott on Monday.

The freshly elected judges will fill two vacancies in the Palm Beach County system, left by James T. Ferrara and Richard L. Oftedal.

Judge Curley, 57, received his law degree from Stetson University. He is from West Palm Beach.

Curley barely wrapped-up a highly-publicized case regarding a Florida Atlantic University professor before he was appointed.

Nutt, 55, received his law degree from Nova Southeastern University. The former South Florida Water Management District’s Office of General Counsel employee is from Palm Beach Gardens.

According to the court’s website, the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit is one of 20 circuit courts in the state of Florida. It encompasses all of Palm Beach County and is made up of 35 circuit judges and 19 county judges.
