Here’s the scoop on South Florida’s Ice Cream Festival and Weekend Cold Snap
The Bal Harbour Shops plaza courtyard will play host to the Ice Cream We Love festival on both Saturday and Sunday, January 13-14.
Eighteen ice cream specialists will show their cool, creamy treats from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. as a fundraiser for Holtz Children’s Hospital. Before his passing in 2017, Bal Harbour Shops developer, Stanley Whitman, a lover of ice cream, was a consistent supporter of the hospital and its programs.
Festival participants include South Florida favorites: 32 Bubbles, Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor, Cherry Smash, Midtown Creamery, Wall’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Mr. Kream, Dasher and Crank, Le Zoo, Sweet Melody and Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop.

Ice cream won’t be the only chilly dips around, since temperatures are forecast to drop for the weekend. Lows in the 40’s and 50’s are expected for Saturday and Sunday, with areas closer to Lake Okeechobee experiencing plunges into the 30’s.
