The new and improved John Mayer is just a humble singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer who wants to be taken seriously. The insanely talented Mayer says he tired of his old ways and is ready to settle down and let his music take him on “The Search for Everything.”
Mayer will be performing much of the new album, “The Search for Everything”, at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on August 12. The “Waiting on the World to Change” artist will share the soul-bearing lyrics and hypnotic rhythms he masterfully compiled to create his latest work.
But Mayer is facing an uphill battle against his past. For a time, Mayer was his own worst enemy, giving confusing, ranting, unapologetic interviews to Rolling Stone and Playboy in 2010. His womanizing and objectifying overshadowed the musical genius contained within his seemingly self-destructive persona.
Fortunately, Mayer eventually acknowledged his behavior and used it to fuel his resolve to change.
He focused on music, stayed out of the limelight, and underwent treatment, including two surgeries, for a granuloma discovered on his vocal cords. In retrospect, John expressed that he is grateful for the break away from the road he was travelling.
It appears that the Connecticut boy, who now lives in Montana, wants to redeem himself. And what better way to prove his intentions than with a stellar album of deeply personal songs.
The seven-time Grammy Award winner, John Mayer, will bring favorites like “Your Body is a Wonderland” and soon-to-be favorites such as “Love on the Weekend” to the BB&T Center at p.m. on August 12. Opening act is Night Game.
