Jimmy Fallon revealed that super-cool superstar Justin Timberlake will be the featured act of the Super Bowl 52 Halftime Show.
J.T.’s appearance comes nearly 15 years after the controversial performance with Janet Jackson which included a “wardrobe malfunction.”
The 36-year-old Timberlake will make this his third career appearance on stage at the NFL’s big bowl, having previously appeared during Super Bowls 35 and 37, making him half-time’s single most frequent performer.
And he has some big shoes to fill. Last year’s halftime show, sponsored by Pepsi and featuring Lady Gaga, was the most-watched musical event of the year according to the NFL.
An estimated 150 million individuals were reached with last year’s performance.
Third time’s the charm? Maybe. Let’s hope it’s smoother than his duet with Janet Jackson as the two shocked the world and coined the term “wardrobe malfunction” when Jackson’s breast was accidentally exposed on live television.
But that was almost 15 years ago.
Gracing the halftime stage in recent years: Lady Gaga, Coldplay, The Who, the Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Bruno Mars, Madonna, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, U2 and more.
Super Bowl 52 takes place on Feb. 18, 2018 at Minnesota’s U.S. Bank Stadium.
