The Real Housewives of New York’s Countess Luann de Lesseps will bring an interesting story-line to the show’s upcoming season – her Palm Beach, Florida arrest.
The ‘Class With the Countess’ author, 52, was discovered on Christmas Eve in the wrong room of The Colony Hotel. She and an unnamed man reportedly gained access to the room while a maid was finalizing the housekeeping.
The room snafu could have been a mistake made by the influence of the night’s alcohol, since she was registered in another room, but the actions that happened after that led to de Lesseps’ arrest.
According to reports, a security guard caught the reality star and a man in bed and asked them to leave, but the pair refused. The guard said he attempted to boot the couple several times before calling police.
When the Palm Beach Police arrived, a long battle with authorities ensued including insulting and allegedly kicking and shoving an officer with an open palm and slamming a door, causing the officer to be hit in the face.
Eventually, authorities arrested de Lesseps and charged her with battery on an officer, disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest with violence, and crimes against a person, according to the report.
The Countess reportedly said to officers, “I’m going to kill you.” She slipped out of her handcuffs and attempted to escape the police car.
Three of the four charges are felonies. She was released without bond and is scheduled to appearing in Palm Beach County Court on January 25.
Luann de Lesseps married Tom D’Agostino in Palm Beach on New Year’s Eve, 2016. According to her US Weekly apology to her fans, de Lesseps claimed that last weekend’s trip to Palm Beach was her first since her wedding. Since she and D’Agostino quickly headed for divorce, she claimed being there “brought up long-buried emotions.”
The Bravo star went on to say, “I am committed to a transformative and hopeful 2018.”
Friends of de Lesseps claim that she has no memory of the Christmas Eve incident, nor does she know the identity of the man she was with. They believe she may be better served by a hospital than jail time.
Bravo, the network that airs de Lesseps’ show, The Real Housewives of New York, has confirmed that they will not terminate her contract and will address the arrest on the upcoming season.
