It’s official, the glowing couple is engaged to be married in the Spring of 2018.
The soon-to-be royal, Ms. Markle and her princely beau, Harry, who is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and fifth in line to the throne, reportedly became engaged earlier this month.
In a statement from Clarence House, The Prince of Wales announced the engagement and confirmed that Her Majesty The Queen was made aware of the upcoming nuptials.
The 36-year-old Markle, who is American, divorced, and multi-racial, will break any mold previously set by the royal family.
The internet was set ablaze with speculation that the twosome may have already been engaged when Markle was spotted moving out of her Toronto home last week.
The Suits actress ditched her short shorts and thigh-high skirts for pants, jeans, and opted for more modest apparel, also fueling speculation that she was preparing to become His Royal Highness’s wife.
Although the trailblazing pair has not exactly followed tradition, one nod to Harry’s heritage rings loud and clear. The dazzling, three-stone diamond engagement ring designed by Prince Harry himself. The ring features three diamonds; two of the stones are from the personal collection of his mother, Princess Diana. The center stone is a showstopper from Botswana, where the Prince and Markle vacationed earlier this year.
The happy couple posed for a photo shoot in the gardens of Kensington Palace today. Markle, who’s fashion will be forever marveled and scrutinized, wore a white wrap overcoat. The coat designer’s website, Label, promptly crashed after hoards of admirers rushed online to purchase a copy.
Beaming with smiles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said they were “thrilled” and “so very happy” about their upcoming wedding.
The betrothed will reside in the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace, the very same place William and Kate shared before their grand wedding.
