The White House in Washington DC

Reports of shots fired near the White House were confirmed around noon on Saturday. One gunman has at least one presumed self-inflicted gunshot wound. A shelter-in-place order was issued in the area including the White House which was placed on lock-down (now lifted).

According to the Secret Service, officers responded to reports “of a person who allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gun shot wound along the north fence line of the White House”.

Authorities are still working on releasing more details on the case while responders are attending to the medical needs of the alleged gunman. There are no other reported injuries.

President Trump is at his Palm Beach resort, Mar-a-Lago, but is expected to return to the White House later today.

White House press secretary says “we are aware of the situation, the president has been briefed.”

This is a developing story.
