Sam Hunt has just sent Florida Georgia Line on a “Cruise” down Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart by breaking the county duo’s record for most weeks in the number one slot.
Body Like a Back Road, by Hunt has spent 25 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart, which takes into account radio play, sales and streaming. The longevity of Hunt’s single edged out Florida Georgia Line’s Cruise, which ruled the number one position for a total of 24 weeks in 2012 and 2013.
It’s hard to believe, but this is Sam Hunt’s debut album. His record label, MCA Nashville, said they’re glad Sam didn’t release another single until Body Like a Back Road could reach its full potential.
Hunt’s hit, which he wrote with Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne is a nod to his wife, Hannah and their marriage.
The catchy song with a stick-with-you melody instigated a spoof from country music’s Lady Antebellum, entitled Party in My Bathrobe. You can see the parody on Rolling Stone’s website.
The “song of the Summer” as some are calling it, contains lyrics that include, I know every curve like the back of my hand. Hunt’s breakout single continues to throw a curve to the charts as it shows no sign of stopping.
For Sam Hunt, the path to country music super-stardom may be down a Back Road he knows very well.
