The 17th year of the South Beach Wine and Food Festival (SOBEWFF) kicks off Wednesday with a $200-per-person barbecue bash in Fort Lauderdale. SOBEWFF runs February 21-25 and features 11 spectacular Broward County events as part of the Crave Greater Fort Lauderdale Series.
While the events in South Beach will be as lavish and plentiful as ever, the Fort Lauderdale shindigs will differ slightly in that they will not be on the actual sand. Logistically, the sand was too soft – perfect for powdery-soft beaches, but not for pitching the signature white tents of SOBEWFF.
The upscale beachy vibe will be achieved at swanky venues such as The W Fort Lauderdale and the new Conrad Beach Resort.
And thanks to the folks who bring you The Food Network and The Cooking Channel, the Broward portion of SOBEWFF is throwing down much more than barbecue (even Chef Chris Lilly’s). Appetizing names like Emeril Lagasse, Andrew Zimmerman, Duff Goldman, and Geoffrey Zakarian are scheduled to make appearances.
If that still isn’t enough to tempt your foodie-driven taste-buds, perhaps one of the 90 or more official curated gastronomical SOBEWFF events will. This year’s production is expected to draw a carnivorous crowd of at least 60,000.
Tickets to each event range widely and many are already sold out. For the latest information on pricing and availability, go to SOBEFWW.com.
