The Town Center Mall is known for its upscale department stores, swanky atmosphere, and fabulous restaurants. On Christmas Day, the otherwise closed mall opened its doors to about 300 guests who experienced the V.I.P. treatment.
The special guests came from South Florida’s social service agencies. The families and individuals received a lavish holiday lunch prepared by the finest chefs at the mall’s famed eateries.
Clients of Boca Helping Hands, Place of Hope, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, and other organizations that serve the needy enjoyed the specialties, from restaurants such as the Capitol Grille.
Guests dined on tables dressed in white linen with fine china and fresh flowers. They were serenaded by festive carolers and served by volunteers from the mall and other organizations.
The meal included pasta with sauce from California Pizza Kitchen, macaroni and cheese from Zinburger, a vegetable medley from Piñon Grill, salad from Chick-fil-A, lasagna from Maggiano’s, ham and turkey from Boston Market, and sweet potatoes from Oceans 234 in Deerfield Beach.
Attendees expressed their gratitude for the grand meal and noted that in addition to being most delicious, it was a treat to avoid cooking on the holiday.
The Town Center Mall’s general manager said his staff is responsible for the idea of the feast as they brainstormed ways to get more involved in the community. He estimates the event, which is in its second year, cost the mall about $12,000.
The manager further expressed that the mall wanted to represent Boca Raton by treating those in need to the posh experience.
