A West Palm Beach apartment fire near the Good Samaritan Medical Center was reported at about 8 a.m. on Sunday. WPB Fire Rescue crews responded to the call at 322 North Lakeside Court.

Reports indicate that the fire included an explosion which caused another structure to catch fire as well.

One person who was inside the residence when the fire broke out, was able to escape. Six residents were evacuated from the scene. Investigators say the residence is a total loss.

There is no news on the condition of the person who escaped the fire.

According to residents, they heard an explosion, felt the ground shake, and saw flames sprouting from the home.

Power lines hanging above the structures were damaged and caused West Palm Beach Fire Rescue crews to disconnect power to the entire block, leaving more than 35 customers without electricity.
